I'm surprised Phil/Tandy never went there and swam in the outside pool. I've been there on tour and it's such an epic view from there, entirely something that would happen in the first season of the show.
The minor detail is that it only appears for exactly one second in the original Spartacus and in a Lady Gaga music video G.U.Y.
It must be outrageously expensive to film there since it's only in one movie or they just don't allow it most of the time.
That would be fantastic fun for them all to enjoy the main palace and guest houses, the grounds with wild animals, and the beautiful pools. Plus a lot of movie memorabilia and hidden rooms and treasure. But you're right, it's near impossible to film anything there, especially a sitcom.

So funny cause when they were looking upon burnt San Francisco I thought of Hearst Castle. I would definitely live there in an apocalypse. Every time I go I want to jump in the pool and move into the guest house and visit the imaginary zoo.
