Kether D. Critics Choice Nomination

A nice surprise to see Kether Donahue receiving some nomination love for her portrayal of, probably the worst of the worsties-Lindsey!

In S.1 I was rather ambivalent about Lindsey. This season I felt like the writers gave Kether more to do and more material to play with, making Lindsey a more fully fleshed out (ha!) character. We got to see a softer side to Lindsey thru her support of Gretchen. More importantly, her storyline this season- transitioning from an unhappy adulterous wife to an 'almost single, not technically divorced yet', woman-child, navigating the scary world of utility co. automated phone systems (don't be a sucker, always ask for 'agent'!) and other real world obstacles, allowing her to became a more nuanced and somewhat morally improved sister, friend, almost ex-wife, near adult. I'd say she's grown from a woman-child to a woman-adolescent.

My point- Kether's was given some really good material to work with this season, she in turn did some really good work (witness everything she did in the bottle episode), fully earning her critics choice nomination. Go Kether, yea!

Fav. quotes this season: (when Gretchen asks if the baby Lindsey is referring to is one of her Tinder hookups) 'No, the baby in my p***y', and (re: finding out the sex of Becca and Vernon's baby) 'I want to know if I'm going to be an Aunt or an Uncle!'. Lindsey could really benefit from a refresher course on basic human anatomy! :)

Lindsey/Kether is my favorite character/performer on this show.

It would just crack me up that just about every time you would see her, she's eating food, holding food, ordering food, etc.

I also think she is the only character now who lives up to the title of series, since Jimmy and Gretchen are not the worst anymore.

Hasn't she always been the worst?

I think Jimmy was in front last season.

Good to hear - Donohue thoroughly earned this. Her portrayal of the reprehensible Lindsay, and Lindsay's occasional terrified bewilderment when a moment of conscience or real thought breaks in on her carefully constructed avoidance of reality, is a thing of beauty.

Very, very gifted young woman. I've seen a few other things she was in, but don't remember her from them. Here, she was given the opportunity to steal the show more than once, and at those times, generally did!

She'll be up against some formidable competition for the award, including Allison Janney and Judith Light, among others. I do not expect her to win. But a Critics' Choice nomination really means something. They're not playing politics, they do it because they think you're good.
