I just imagine that a meeting in Hollywood took place and that it went something like this:
"You you remember 'The Exorcist'? Well what if we combine it with 'Inception'? And we get that guy from that other Christopher Nolan film, who was killed off, Aaron Eckhart?"
That's how this film looks.
I was about to post this very thread title when I saw you'd beaten me to it.
Apparently, it's pretty obvious to any casual observer that a minimal level of thought went into this movie's plot.
