Well made but this movie was ghastly in how disingenuous it was with...

the historical inaccuracy in whitewashing the unpleasant stuff with Trumbo's political views and making every conservative character onscreen into a John Birch type. Rarely does a historical film bother me about that but this directly contradicted the ideals the movie supposedly championed. Very deceptive and manipulative.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

What was the "unpleasant stuff with Trumbo's political views"?

Whilst the film portrays him as this outspoken though seemingly typical '50s liberal, the real Dalton Trumbo actually supported and advocated the regimes of Stalinist Russia and even North Korea under Kim Il Sung. He was also an ardent isolationist who excused Nazi Germany's invasion with an article that read "to the vanquished all conquerors are inhunman". He often contradicted himself to defend the Soviet Union during the late forties and through the fifties (where the movie is set). In fact, here's a better link than what I can say proper. The movie's hypocrisy in the extent to which they cover up Trumbo's ideological extremism while criticizing the blacklist is astounding.

You might want to get your information from something less biased than a partisan website.

And you might want to learn how to debate, or even accept facts and realities you duslike, instead of relying on falkacies and handwaving.
