So is this a pro-communist movie?

That is some clear baiting right there if there ever was.

Noting that Hollywood creates propaganda for the military (generalising) and the banks issue loans to the federation who upkeeps that military. Adding to that is USA being fascist at this point in time (ruled by corporations) it's no far stretch to believe that Hollywood is serving fascist (right wing/conservative) ends. Though, it still has to cater to the majority - which means it's goal as an industry to make money is in contrast to making money and attaining power through propaganda (historically that has worked in favour of the latter from my point of view - look at movies made near or in times of war).
If you look to smaller movies they usually contain more humane messages and thoughtful meanings (that not saying that Hollywood lacks those movies, but it could surely do with making depictions of war and reality more realistic).
When was the last time you viewed a blockbuster movie that encouraged the viewer to question the official narrative (yes there are a few, I did not make an absolute statement - but compare them to the overwhelmingly vast majority of movies made)?

I will paraphrase you here and asume you "think" all Israeli's are jews and vice versa (that they are the same thing) and in this point in time you might even be more right about that than wrong (due to the situation of Israel and it's agressive landgrabs "justified" through religion). But the thing is, those who firstly adhere to the people of the world instead of some religion - may it be judaism, christianity, islam or any other religion will look to the better of humanity first and what is better for smaller/lesser groups secondly. All groups are frictioned, those who try to forcefeed a picture that they are not are usually the ones belonging to the ones most in need of unification (the most divided from it's core set of values as the viewpoint).

You do not need to be a communist to believe that what is better for everyone is also better for yourself but what is best for you is not neccessarily better for everyone else. The opposite of that being that the ends justifies the means.
There you got the difference in being a progressive (democrat) and a regressive (plutocrat aka conservative), someone working with the state as an opportunity to make capitalism work better and making sure everyone have equal opportunity (which is the core of liberalism and what conservatism pretend to be about - meritocracy) and those who corrupt the state to serve their own needs (pluralism).

Plutocrats exist within every race (and ethnicity), no matter which race or ethnicity by numbers have the most of them it's still wrong to rule by the few and use fear than to rule by democracy, equal access to opportunity (actual meritocracy) and trust.

With power comes responsibility, no matter what color or ethnicity you are.
It easy to ruin morale, it only takes one time to shatter the trust someone has for you. But it can take a lifetime to rebuild it.

I'm a Libertarian and an anti-communist. I didn't get the impression it was pro-communist but rather pro-First Amendment.

Is this a pro-Communist movie? Does a cat have an ass? Does a bear take a crap in the woods? Is the Pope RC? Does a woman squat to pee?

reply

Is the Pope RC? Unless you're using RC as another acronym than Rational Choice I'd really like to hear your reasoning, for once it seems like there is not a powerhungry elitist at the top that justify unpopular views with confused rhetoric and a twisted world view (I might very well be wrong, I'm not read into religions that well). Well if you want to be cynical about it he could just be putting up a show, but from the few pieces that is shown in the news regarding the changes he's made i don't think so.

Is irvberg2002 a troll? YES!

What's that got to do with the price of gasoline?

Nothing, as does communism (which was NEVER communism but rather simply an evil type of goverment) have nothing to do with this movie other than as a backdrop.

The problem back then was the fake Red Menace and McCartyism.

That is its about blacklisting and similar insults to our freedoms.

To answer the OP's question directly: No, it is not a pro-communist movie; it's a pro-1st Amendment movie. The public service it does for ignorant American audiences is that it has the brains to understand that communism and fascism are not at all the same things, contrary to the meme that serves as the historical narrative of American RWNJ's (right-wing nut jobs).

In reality, communism was never a threat to America; right-wing fascism was.

No, its anti-retard.

It's anti-fearmongering. That's what HUAC was: fearmongering, hatemongering ignorance and violation of rights of individuals. What was unAmerican was the committee itself under the malevolent direction of Joe McCarthy.

What was unAmerican was the committee itself under the malevolent direction of Joe McCarthy.

No, it wasn't. Ol' tail-gunner Joe was a Senator while the House Un-American Activities Committee was a subset of the House of Representatives.

Just keeping it real.

It is a Pro-free speech movie. This is a movie against witch hunts because of political beliefs. The blacklist was wrong. I am a liberal that does not believe in communism but I do not support witch hunts against writers that maybe communists. It is about protecting a persons freedom of speech.

Here's a thought; you're now on my IGNORE list. Twit.

Perhaps the OP just wants to reach out for some sense of community.
