Thoughts after 1st ep

Well this was mostly what it promised to be. ER all over again. Execution seemed pretty excellent but i'm certainly no medical expert. Little woke seasoning but a surprisingly straight forward cast. Noah Wyle really shines as the slightly grizzled and worn out version of his previous take on this character. The episode largely focused on the chaotic trauma of the ward and not soap opera relationship dynamics which was refreshing. Then in the last 90 seconds we veered off into some murky PTSD Covid stuff which I worry might become a wet blanket theme throughout the whole series. But a really solid launch. Had just a hint of what they were doing with New Amsterdam with the put-upon dreamer thinking there's a better way to do things. Thumbs up. Looking forward to more.

Haven't seen it or even heard of it till this thread popped up, but reading up on it-it sounds like they missed a trick by not calling the show ER and naming it something stupid like The Pitt.

There was a bit of a hiccup even getting it launched. I think there was some kind of lawsuit from the Crichton estate over it.

Noticing in ep 2, just like in ER, nobody is wearing masks while slicing patients open. Gotta see the actors faces.
