Who was the real Oscar Winner?

Seeing this, you quickly realize young Jacob Tremblay is the principal character and his mother a supporting player...both gave excellent performances, yet the kid didn't get a nomination while mom won the best actress Oscar...Throughout the film it is the youngster who leads the action and evolves giving an award worthy performance.

Brie was the 'real' and worthy winner of her oscar.

Her winning, in no way slighted Jacob's magnificent performance.

Jacob not even being nominated was the myopia and stupidity of the academy and several other awards oligarchies.

Brie Larson was very deserving of her nomination and her Oscar.
She's also been very generous and gracious, always saying how she couldn't have accomplished her performance without Jacob Tremblay.
And I think that works both ways.
Their chemistry was amazing and their performances were pretty well tied together.
They both won best actor and actress at the Canadian Screen Awards.
Tremblay was nominated in the Best Actor category along with the great Christopher Plummer.

So true...

The real winner here is the kid without whom this would have been just another movie.and without a doubt leading actress oscar should go to Cate for Carol. I am sorry but the complete lack of emotion of any kind from Brie just doesnt convince me. Good movie yes oscar material no way. But ofcourse maternal love always wins no matter what. Where Carol being true to herself and not willing to sacrifice her own life for her child husband and society...is ofcourse a loser. except that she isnt because one doesnt need an oscar to be breathtaking.

complete lack of emotion? were you paying attention when she went from nurturing to angry depressed in five seconds flat? she had every emotion under the sun.

Why not the dog? Man he totally made me believe he was Shamus the dog. His scene stole the film.

BOYCOTT THE ACADEMY!

By the way, none of the nominations or should've been nominations are mutually exclusive. Brie was phenomenal and should have won. Jack was phenomenal and should have at least have been nominated. Joan Allen was incredible and should have been at least nominated.

After seeing this film, I also think the boy should've been given the nomination too. Not sure if he would win though, I mean HJO got robbed for best actor in "The sixth Sense."

Brie deserved her win. She earned the hell out of it with her performance.

It's still a sin Jacob wasn't at least nominated.

There is another reason to fill your heart with hatred.
