Remake of a French Movie??

I read about a fench movie that had a similar plot, about a rich old guy that helps and give money to a poor (arab) couple in a really paternalistic way and it's get creepy, does anyone remembers the name of the movie????

If it is a re-make of a French movie, that pretty much explains why it is so boring, LOL.
