This is the film I want to make

Not literally the same film but something very similar. As much as I hate to admit it, I am q huge fan of the found footage genre. Some admittedly are pretty darn awful, but some like this one, sneak up on you and are actually pretty good. I liked the way that very little was shown antagonist wise. The sound in this film really made the imagination go into overdrive. Bravo Josh Stewart!

I am currently writing a horror film and this film has encouraged me to make it sooner, seeing what can be done with such a small cast, crew and budget has really impressed me. I hope eventually when I get my film made it can atleast get a few views and get some peoples hearts beating the way this film did to mine.

I have made a short film which is one youtube, I made it as a trial version of a scene from my future feature. This was to see how difficult editing is etc. I'll post a link below;

if any horror fans or indie enthusiasts want to take a peek, feel free. The more hits the better. Be warned tho. Its found footage and slightly out of context. It would've been a scene half way though my feature. I tried to make it its own short by adding a title card and an end. Please view it and let me know what you think. I am not easily insulted and am very aware the short isn't actually very good, first effort and all so...

I thought it was pretty good all things considered.

Might I suggest that you forget about the "lost/disclosed footage" story angle? It's just so tiresome. That doesn't mean however, that you do away with the common "lost footage" filming style. There needn't be an explanation as to why the viewer is seeing the film POV, and by doing it this way, you can cut it with more tradition techniques. Chronicle attempted something similar if I remember, and the style worked out pretty well.

While I absolutely love horror movies, this genre simple turns me off these days. It screams lack of imagination to me, and an easy option when the budget is so low the director doesn't think there is any other option. But with a little more thought, issues like this can be overcome. It just takes more time.

Granted this genre does have the occasional exception. I watched 'The Den' earlier tonight, and while the acting wasn't the greatest, I found it to have a great premise and an original take on this theme. Certainly worth you checking it out if you haven't already.

Anyway, good luck for the future fella.

Appreciate you giving my short a little look. I know the found footage angle has been done to death but its a sub-genre I genuinely enjoy. I like seeing the different ways film makers use this technique to try and do something different, admittedly most of them are the same and pretty unoriginal.
I have watched "The Den", I actually enjoyed the new spin on found footage to be honest. Was abit different. I will watch any horror film as I live them more than any genre. The first horror movie I watched was The Evil Dead (original). I have a Ash tattoo on me as a tribute to the genre I love and want to be apart of. Please can you help get my short some more views. I want to get as many views as I can before I make my feature. Its just a little goal I set myself before I did anymore on my "Documented" feature. Cheers for your views dude.
