... the occasional ominous string music when danger was lurking. As a "found footage" movie, it didn't require any music at all. In my opinion it would have been more effective without it, especially the dizzying flurry of violins during the final confrontation at the end of the film.

That's a good point, I did think that too. Didn't need any music, kind of breaks the found footage style. Also adding the this bit is going to be scary music is dated.

Rule #1 for found-footage style movies: NO FREAKING POST-PRODUCTION MUSIC! If the characters in the film are not hearing it, we shouldn't be.
