Deer. kill

Was that a legal kill? I'm not a hunter but always thought that only bucks are fair game.

I depends on the state. But you can get a doe license.

That was the first thing that popped in my head. I'm not a hunter but I always thought that you weren't supposed to kill doe. I thought it was part of the plot but obviously it wasn't.

I doubt that Wit, the wife, even realized it was a doe. Brother Sean had just moments before talked about bringing down a buck, and she probably made an incorrect assumption. What's odd is that neither brother Sean nor husband Mike mention it. Given the way their characters were written, you'd think they would have reveled in making Wit feel bad about killing a doe and, who knows?, leaving a Bambi out there somewhere.

Aaron Staton and Pablo Schreiber are both good actors. There was a kernel of a good, if unoriginal, story here, particularly with the potential triangle. If Christopher Denham had resisted the urge to turn the two men into exemplars of every stereotyped bully who picked on him in middle school, the film would have been more entertaining. Wrenn Schmidt is also a good actor, so there was potential. As it is, the potential was wasted by making two of the three victims so unsympathetic and then tacking on a completely clichéd ending.
