discharge tale

I didn't really follow the story about why the brother got discharged. I was left feeling like he had gone mental and shot all his army buddies from his overly long metaphor. I don't think they just discharge soldiers for that. Or had he been medically discharged because he had gone mental from seeing all his friends die?

And what was with his stories? He asks if Wit knows who Artemis is. Wit says she does, yet he goes on and on as if she hasn't got a clue which is very presumptuous. I think he was a bit of a drama queen who loved the sound of his own voice.

Yeah that story didn't make sense because he didn't really answer the question, just told her a story from when he was a kid...but I understood it as maybe he liked to kill too much? Like instead of killing the enemy out of necessity he just liked killing for fun so they discharged him

Wit knew who Artemis was. She didn't necessary know the full mythology of her character*. I think we're meant to see Sean as a captivating story teller and dangerous charmer, whose quiet, serious, mysterious and manly manner contrasts with husband Mike's annoying, obnoxious adolescent behavior.

*The version of which we get is completely and utterly wrong, made up by the writer from whole cloth with nothing to do with the real story of Artemis and Callisto, but that's another post ...
