Why didn't they just kill him?

I wouldn't want to live like that. Why didn't they just shoot Wallace The Walrus?

reply

A. It's murder (Duponte kills him in the original script)
B. The film is faithful to the podcast. In the podcast, they talk about the ending that is in the actual film.

I read the script and it has a very similar ending to the actual movie. Lapointe (not Dupont) points the shotgun but he's stopped. The only difference is that in the script, Wallace did become a beast, there's no showing of emotions by crying.

If there's an earlier draft though, I would love to read it, if you can point me out where to find it.

reply

It would have made the ending alot better if he was killed. But at the end of the day this movie was stupid.

reply

I think its more disturbing that he lived on as a walrus...

It would have been better if Wallace was killed off at the end, because he wouldn't have to live that horrid life as a walrus. He could go to heaven with his human body back.

I didn't realize two year olds can use this website, that's amazing.

I didn't realize atheist bigots could use this website. That's amazing.

Cause he chose to live when he defeated Howe. Maybe some of us wouldn't want to live like that, be he wanted.

Oh, I thought you meant Kevin Smith at the premiere or something. Because at this point, it might be best to put the big guy out of his misery. (F--king Johnny Depp as a French-Canadien cop in a movie about a Walrus-man?? F--king, for REAL...?!)

reply

Yeah, Johnny Depp's accent was ridiculous. He sounded like Mr. Tudball from The Carol Burnett Show.

reply

They didn't have the heart to kill him. I think it would have been better if he was a side show attraction and had people visiting and taking pictures or videos. Wallace wanted to be famous and now he can be.

His mind was pretty much gone at that point. So getting him a bunch of cosmetic surgeries wouldn't have put him back together enough to have even a semi normal life.

Although either ending would still have a suspension of disbelief. Just like the main plot of someone wanting to turn someone else into a Walrus.
