He's in the wheelchair and gets to his smartphone. Instead of wasting 2-3 min. calling your girlfriend and then your best friend, he could have easily opened Google Maps, shared his location to them with the message, "I've been abducted! Get the cops to this location!"
shareEh at that point you'd be extremely traumatized and he just woke up from a drug induced sleep so he probably wasn't thinking clearly.
Also, maybe that was his next plan but sometimes talking to someone and letting them know you're in a real crisis situation can be better than a text where someone might think it's a prank or act too late.
Get what you're saying, probably the best bet, but he's not sitting at home on the couch either in a completely normal state thinking logically about all that's happened.
