Is it really that bad?

I've seen all of Kevin Smith's movies except for this one and this movie started off with a decent score on here, but now I'm seeing nothing but hate for it and I'm wondering if it's really that bad. Is it really worse than Cop Out? I doubt it. I just don't think it will be a 1/10 movie like many of the reviewers of this site are making it out to be. It just seems like people are hating it because it's different from everything else he's done. Red State was different and while that isn't his best work it's still a good movie. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the movie does suck, but I don't think it will be a 1/10. It just cannot be that bad!

Considering Cop Out is the only movie I've ever watched I actively despised, I am confident in saying Tusk is not as bad as it. Anyway, the movie is far from perfect, and there are countless better horror-comedies out there, but it is still worth a watch if you are a fan of the genre. The 5-6/10 score is probably about right.

It's different but not very good. It seemed like it was slapped together haphazardly (apparently it actually was), and the humor didn't do it for me. The parts that were meant to be gruesome were more goofy.

It is getting bad reviews because a lot of people are put off by it's disturbing content. I also agree with them. Decent movie but I will never be able to get these horrific images out my head. You just can't unsee it. If your an uber horror fan you'll love it, if your just a normal person stay far away.

It's not "really" that bad. It's worse. Once you see Justin Long in the get-up they made for him as a Walrus, you will rue the moment you decided to watch this wretch of a thing.

I like Michael Parks.. He was the only thing worth seeing in this movie.

reply

Nah it was actually pretty good imo

its another craptastic film from kevin smith this movie was such a failure its unreal it failed to make a profit cause its crap everything he has done is complete utter crap always has an always will

It's amusing and a decent comedy. Hardly in the same league as Human Centipede.

reply

See, that's what I was about to ask in here: Is this movie as bad as the 2nd installment of Human Centipede (haven't seen the 3rd yet, not sure if I want to after seeing the 2nd one....which made the first one look like a Disney film by comparison...!)? I'm curious to check this out, in the same way I'm curious when I see a car wreck on the highway...and I know y'all know what I'm talking about. But if it's a work of ultimate human depravity like Human Centipede 2, then I have no plans to watch it.

reply

Don't worry, mate, Nothing can be worse than "Top Cops", a trip to the dentist included. "Tusk" starts pretty well but gets sidetracked on the way instead of keeping Long and Parks, both brilliants, in center stage.

reply

Pretty much. The character of Lapointe was the worst thing about the movie...

Justin Long is NO dramatic actor. I laughed after his leg was cut off. I never have liked him. What a talentless wannabe.
