Mia Faith, a true-blue actress! Literally. Though she's probably gone grey & green by now... unless you cremated her. Anyhow, from filmmakers, it's nice to see that that kind of passion and risk-taking is still alive now that Hollywood has gone all Union rules this and Human Rights that and Save the Baby Hippos!
If I may take this opportunity, I have a question re a point twice mentioned on this thread: Why the flash-forward in the opening sequence? Was it imposed by the studio? A question of confidence and/or of not trusting that the audience will watch up to the gore unless you tantalize them with some right off the bat? Or were you hoping to create a sort of "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" moment wherein the audience is still surprised despite having previously established our expectations? To fool us into thinking this was a crazy-town-gone-slasher movie? Reason I ask: Wondering what the motivation was as I truly question its necessity and think it weakens the film. I don't seem to be the only one.
And, as the saying goes, if I bothered, it's because I care. IMO, this film is a small gem; a quasi-high-brow meta-low-brow parody... not an easy thing to do! Nice job to all.
Also, I'm assuming that the film The Shrine was a big influence re the idea behind They're Watching. Am I right?
Cheers!
Ignorance is bliss... 'til it posts on the Internet, then, it's annoying.
