How did they get the video tapes of their assets in USSR? (spoiler)

of the people being kidnapped/or beaten?

I'm assuming a KGB leak, but the real question is why were they taped in the first place?
Was that a standard KGB practice?

It was briefly mentioned that an asset provided the audio tapes. I don't recall such a line about the video though.
