Not very good

Sloppy acting--including bad accents--ludicrous sets, and not very faithful to the real story of Aldrich Ames.

Whoever designed the sets has never been inside a US government office, much less at the CIA. Every wall space and every desk is not covered with pictures of the President and little and big American flags. The staff meetings were particularly silly. As noted, the accents were bad, but worse the actors seemed bored, and the story, which is an interesting one, was made boring by poor direction and writing.

Skip it.

I agree with most of what you say.
The acting is very stiff and wooden. But the story moves along well enough. I skipped a couple of the middle episodes as I just found the central characters so unappealing. A mediocre spy story at best. If you love espionage yarns though you will probably like it.

One thing I left out is that the series last episode is an excellent documentary about the Ames affair which is well worth watching. It shows that much of the show is historically quite accurate.

It was appalling

Yes. Their idea of creating intensity is yelling. Almost every character at some point shouts their lines. It's weird.
