7 billion human beings spreading indiscriminately. I think the population of the world doubled in my lifetime (I'm 46). Tell me why I shouldn't cheer for the virus?
At this rate, 14 billion before I am dead from natural causes.
Because birth control is a more ethical and moral solution than just killing
this, plus if this virus was as horrific as was implied, the survivors would be walking around with PTSD and other trauma, leaving them unable to function. you could end up wiping out the entire population instead of culling it.
added to that, if we humans committed such an act, we would have lost our humanity anyway, so what would be the point of survival?
well thats just nonsense. humans are hardier than you think. To suggest that all survivors would suffer ptsd and shut down and our race would die is just silly.
as for 'losing our humanity', what about all the wars we've fought, what about the endless starvation resulting in the suffering deaths of millions that we create through our inaction, selfishness, indifference and blindness? How is our humanity more intact if we allow our race to slowly kill itself compared to if we do it quickly? Besides, the survivors would be no more (or less) responsible for the act than they currently are for our slow and inevitable destruction.
Well, you're not alone. Like sure, there could be more humane alternatives like China is trying by giving more benefits to single child families, but this is still slow and ineffective. We're screwing up the Earth and all the living things super hard, just to sustain our, at this point, pretty awful species.
If I had the button Zobrist was talking about, I'd press the *beep* out of it, without hesitation. Sue me :D
I am sure most of these environmentalists that see human proliferation as a problem to be met with force tend to be the far left progressive types. The world would for sure be a better place if you sacrificed yourself.
For those contemplating and/or openly expressing this idea of 'culling' the population, the following simple self test helps determine if you truly think it is a good idea to curb the population by killing them or not. The test is really quite simple: kill yourself. If you do, then congratulations, you truly believed in your cause, and have done the world a favour. If you find you can't do it, then congratulations, you might still have some humanity left in you: from now on, stop blurting out such horrible ideas before having thoroughly thought it through. Win-win.
If I killed myself, then I wouldn't be able to watch you humans suffer. A new day can only bring more bad news so why do I want to miss that?
You should be happy that some of us who share these same thoughts are doing it on the internet. Would you prefer us to take out our frustration and do real harm offline?
Whatever_it_takes, maybe no one else wants to miss that either. You seem to think you're entitled to special privileges. You clearly don't live like you learn so you're just a hypocrite.
