I really don't understand HBO fans' impossible standards
I will always have HBO. From Oz to The Wire to Boardwalk to GOT to SV to Veep. I love Taxicab Confessions and the Bunny Ranch. Sopranos, Curb, Eastbound, Entourage also great.
Often though it seems like there are so many haters on HBO series. I do understand that this is premium viewing and we all pay extra for it so the standards are higher than standard channels but this show is funny!
Silicone Valley and Veep are top notch comedies but I also think this along with How to Make it in America are/were great shows as well. Put Luck on that list also, while I understand that was cancelled for more than just fan displeasure.
This to me is priceless comedy, those awkward parts of marriage that are there in every relationship one way or another. It may not be intimacy for some but every relationship has something where the partners don't see eye to eye, something that at times seems potentially damaging to a marriage but overall you can look back at it and laugh once you make it through.
Sometimes the shows that get praise on HBO verses the ones that attract haters is completely bizarre to me. I tried so hard to like Leftovers but to be honest that show is a complete confusing, terrible mess. I think it's one that fans are wanting to like, it's supposed to be intriguing but to me at the end of the day it delivers nothing but boring confusion. Just question after question without any answers eventually gets old. You ever read that board? People are all over with what they think is happening in that show and I can't blame them. Girls is awful, True a Detective IS overrated (I said it), Getting On not funny.
I can't put my finger on it overall, it's just odd to me what is disliked on HBO. It's got weird standards. Am I alone on this? If so I'll shut up now :-)
The end.
