The first season was great. but the second was HORRIBLE.....

.....no surprise, to me, that it was cancelled. The first season was so well-done; the second one, however, was unrealistic, poorly written, over-the-top, not funny (except for how absurd the plot is), and just plain bad. I especially disliked the final episode....so unrealistic and unintentionally silly. I love the actors; I just wish the second season had been of the same quality, as the first. HBO has given the axe to quiet a few shows, that I felt deserved more seasons ("Hello Ladies", "Enlightened", "Getting On", to name a few.) This series wasn't one of them. I felt that it ran it's course; quickly, with that awful second season.

My gf and I agree. The 2nd season was very weak. That back story that lingered about the school play was just ridiculous and pointless.

Geeez...picky, picky. You should just be glad it is/was a good series. Btw, it "feels" unrealistic because IT's TELEVISION. Duh.

I enjoyed both, but certainly prefer the first season; I think a lot of shows show a slight decline in the second season, so I try not to judge too harshly since 9 out of 10 times most shows are going to get a third or more, season. Had we a third season, I think it would help with the overall story and in this case, I think it would help with a show like this, but it can be hard to find an audience with this premise.

Do you people that are ripping on the 2nd season even understand the Duplass's writing technique....try seeing some of their movies before blindly making a comment.

Finally! I kept coming to this board while the second season was airing to see if anyone else felt this way, but at the time everyone thought it was great and couldn't understand why it got cancelled. Well, I can. What I can't understand is how the first season was SO AMAZING and why they worked so hard to make the second season the complete pile of hot garbage that it was. It was truly awful! I was beyond not surprised when it got cancelled. It's such a bummer because I really enjoyed the first season. I have no idea WTF they were trying to do with season 2 though...
