So why exactly:

Does Jesse deserve a happy ending but Saul doesn’t?

reply

The same reason Kim and Skyler get off scott free for doing equally terrible things. It’s a fucking joke

reply

Speaking of that, the finale brought back both Marie and Susanne Ericsson and it was like pouring salt on my bleeding arm to not kill them off.

reply

no happy ending for Jessie, he's having a rough go fighting off an android overlord and getting shot or stabbed weekly

reply

Because they tried to make Jesse into a poor innocent victim in Season 5, and a lot of people stupidly bought into it.

reply

Because Saul got Howard killed?

reply

Saul got Howard killed indirectly. Did you miss the part where Jesse shot Gale right in the head, and directly killed him?

But if we're including indirect deaths, we should include Drew Sharp as well. Jesse was deeply involved in the entire scenario that led to his death, and working with people like Todd. Also include Jane, for getting her back on heroin. Also include Jane's father, see previous sentence. You could also probably add Tomas, because if Jesse hadn't insisted on trying to kill Gus' men, he wouldn't have been killed as a response. Also include Andrea, because him ratting on Walt and then trying to escape from the Nazi compound, even though he was warned, led to her death.

reply

Well, then, I don't know? ;-)

reply

Well, then by default Saul killed all those people too because he brought Walt together with Gus and kept the enterprise running which triggered all those deaths so technically Saul has killed like 100 people. And ruined Howard’s character. Unless that’s on Jesse too.

reply

Sure, if you want to play this disingenuous indirect game all the back to the beginning of time. Saul was obviously a magnitude removed from the situations I described compared to Jesse but let's play this game.

Why again does Jesse deserve a happy ending but Saul doesn’t, if they're both on the hook for all these indirect deaths? And Jesse directly killed someone?

reply

Just following along your thought process. I mean if we are going to blame Jesse for the plane load of people, seems only fair that Saul is responsible as well.

Btw, There really were no happy endings except I would argue Walter because he was only taken down by his cancer which was inevitable. He got to leave his kids millions. He kept his wife out of jail. Everything he wanted, he got.

reply

I was just following TrentnQuarantino's thought process, which referred back to the original question of character endings. Saying that somehow Saul deserved worse than Jesse because he indirectly caused Howard's death (which obviously ignores basically everything Jesse did and was involved with).

Jesse may be mentally scarred, but at least he can heal as a free man. There's the potential for him to create an entirely new life, whereas Jimmy will be at the mercy of a cage for the remainder of his.

reply

Jesse already did his prison time.

reply

Sauls prison time isn’t going to end unlike jesses and Jesse only got six months

reply

Yes but those 6 month's was hell for Jesse. Saul is a king in prison and respected with no torture or pain living there. Jesse wanted a new life and he got one in Alaska. He's done doing criminal life and paid for it by having his girlfriend killed and being tortured for half a year. It is implied that he might go on and get an education in business.

Saul had a chance to change and started a new criminal life, he's never gonna change hurting other people. He's a bad man. That's why he deserved what he got.

Also Jesse doesn't completely get a happy ending. His all life will be looking back over his shoulder. It's a strong possibility he's going to get made and recognized.

reply

But he doesn’t deserve a new life, he deserved to go to jail just like Saul did. There is zero reason to glorify Jesse, not only was he a murdering drug lord but he’s a snitch.

reply

Jesse’s only fault was he didn’t “snitch” on Walt sooner. Could have saved many lives. Can’t believe viewers don’t see the head games Walt put on him. If you F with someone’s head enough times, it’s human nature that they snap. So really, Jesse turning on him, is all on Walt.

reply

Walt saved Jesse’s ass on multiple occasions and Jesse repaid the favor by snitching. Jesse deserved to be tortured and enslaved, my only complaint is that Walt was stupid enough to save him again. Jesse could have quit whenever he wanted and hell Jesse begged Walt on many occasions to cook meth with him. Jesse reaped what he sowed and I was so happy when Walt didn’t save Jesse from being taken away to be a slave. The “I watched Jane die” line made me cheer, that was awesome and what’s even more pathetic is Jesse actually thought Walt would save him again after not only snitching on him but spitting on him in handcuffs, then the little pussy starts crying hahahahahaha.

I am proud of Todd, he toughened Jesse up as evidenced by El Camino.

reply

You are a complete idiot.

reply

Nope just calling it like it is. Jesse is a gutless rat who deserved to be a slave far longer than 6 months.

reply

Here’s what you’re missing. Saul had the same exact ending as Jesse. Both left via the vacuum guy to a new state. Here we see the continuance of Sauls life there. We never see Jesses. We don’t know how his fate played out.
Saul had his happy ending but the character chose to go back down his asshole ways scamming people. He put himself in that position.

reply

Yeah. Anyone who thinks Jesse got a happy ending after El Camino is really missing the point. The ending after El Camino is effectively the same ending after BB.

He got freed. But he's broken. We don't know what's gonna happen to him.

reply

No it isn’t, Jesse did get a happy ending, he got to go off to Alaska despite the fact that he betrayed the guy who paid for him to go the first time and he took Brock’s mother away from him.

reply

Going to Alaska is not a happy ending.

Walt dying in peace after leaving all his money to Walt Jr is more of a happy ending.

reply

It very much is, he gets to live the rest of his life and doesn’t have a care in the world. Walt while he did go out in a bang of glory did die and his cunt of a wife and sister in law never apologized for how they treated him.

reply

He got the same ending Saul got at the end of BB. New alias in new state. What we see in BCS is the continuance of Sauls time with his new Alias.
If we were to see Jesses continuance in Alaska he may be having the same miserable existence as Saul. He may even one day get caught like Saul did and go to prison as well. Who knows.

reply

Jesse seemed pretty happy at the end of El Camino, he got pretty much exactly what he wanted which I don’t like. While I do admire Jesse for finally growing some balls in El Camino he still took Brock’s mother away from him.

reply

Jesse's might not necessarily have a happy ending. He'll be emotionally scarred for the rest of his life, has lost everyone he knew and cared about and has to now live a low profile and stay out of trouble. Despite all that he's been through he can still take comfort in the fact that he looks a lot younger than he did when he first met Saul.

reply

Well he deserved all of that because he’s a rat snitch but at the same time he doesn’t have to go to jail and can live a relatively carefree life.
