At first, Kim tried to force prosecution to cut a deal by showing her full legal team and menacing to multiply legal demands and delays. But showing that determination was a bad idea cause there is no way the prosecution would not have connected Kim to the campaign support from Louisiana after that.

More likely: this is just a case of a lawyer zealously working for their client's interest. As they're Supposed to do, for each and every case. . .

She wanted it to be connected, to make it look like they were raising money for legal defense.
