So...why was Kim so sad about the overall bland letter from Chuck?

Also, the letter was not dated and mentioned Jimmy working at HHM? Was it written all the way back when Jimmy worked in the mail room?

reply

Kim was so sad to emphasis how nonchalantly Jimmy was reading it and not getting emotional at all, showing Jimmy has no emotional feelings for Chuck anymore, showing us Kim cares more about him than jimmy at this point.

And yeah i think it was a letter written while Jimmy was working in the mail room, for some reason i guess Chuck never gave it to him.

I saw it as her being overwhelmed with relief that it wasn’t a litany of digs at Jimmy. And that she saw Chuck did care for his brother after all.

Kim feels that Jimmy is turning into Saul.

I think you're onto something here

Kim and Jimmy have a decent, caring relationship but she is starting to understand that Slipping Jimmy is a guy that takes and rarely gives

A letter from beyond the grave doesn't stop him from his breakfast...
He is working his next angle and i think this breaks her heart

These two wont last much longer
That's why Kim was upset

She probably was just shocked at how nonchalant Jimmy was from reading the leader. Either Jimmy is hurting and just faking it, which is sad, or Jimmy just simply doesn't care anymore about what Chuck was trying to tell him, which is also sad. This to me is the most likely reason.

There's many theories out there about her reaction too (she wrote it, etc.) There's one theory haven't heard mentioned, partly because it's so convoluted. This is the theory that Jimmy wrote it, and that Kim know's that Jimmy wrote it. So Kim steams and opens the letter. It includes some bad things, maybe even some things about Kim, and some other private things. Maybe some things that would make Jimmy look bad in Kim's eyes. Now Kim can't just complain about this to Jimmy depending on the information, since it was a private letter. So she puts it back. But, Jimmy sees the letter, opens it, reads it, then writes an alternate letter that is more neutral or positive and puts it back in place. So of course when he reads it, Kim knows that Jimmy rewrote the letter to save face and or protect her, who knows, and that's why she's crying.

Now, I know this is too ridiculous. There's only one reason I would think a scenario like this is even plausible - I just don't see Jimmy reading that letter out in the open next to Kim. I just don't see him doing that. He has done so many bad things, even things Kim doesn't know about, that could be mentioned in that letter and I don't see him reading it out loud like that. It could even include things about how Kim was overlooked for becoming a partner partly due to her association with Jimmy and maybe Jimmy doesn't want to hurt Kim so he fakes the letter. Everybody thought the letter could be one last chance for Chuck to stick it to Jimmy, but maybe it ends up being one last chance for Jimmy to stick it to Chuck by forging his writing and signature AGAIN, and knowing this is too much for Kim to bear.

Not a bland letter, but a nice letter. Jimmy said the man could write a letter. It was a "nice" letter, but it is undated so when he wrote it is not known. After giving it some thought, I think Kim is feeling guilty about how she treated Chuck. The sadness over Chuck's death is finally hitting home. We haven't seen it hit Jimmy yet. It could explain why he's acting like Slippin' Jimmy. Also, Kim passed on the guilt of how Chuck was treated on to Howard. She blamed Howard for the whole thing. She could be feeling some guilt over this, too.

I'm just going to paste this post of mine I'd made in the other thread about the letter:

Jimmy: "I thought you were proud of me..."

Chuck: "I WAS! When you straightened out, got a job in the mail room, I was VERY proud!"

...People are really overthinking this letter--on every forum I've seen so far. Why? It's pretty obvious that it's just a letter from Chuck back when Jimmy was in the mail room and it 100% confers with Chuck's "When you got a job in the mail room I was VERY proud!" statement.

There's no hidden mystery here.

All this "Jimmy, Kim or Howard wrote it!" crap is utter nonsense. If ANY one of those three had written it then WHY would they write it in such a way where it only acknowledges Jimmy when he was working in a mail room? If Jimmy wrote a fake letter then it would be Chuck "congratulating" him on becoming a lawyer. Same for Howard or Kim. Chuck was the ONLY one to be more proud of Jimmy when he was in the mail room than when he became a lawyer and the letter confers with that.

Clearly it doesn't fit in with fan's perception of Chuck because if it did, no one would question it.
