BCS now gets greenlit for Season 5 and...

... like BB, I hope it ends with S5 (or 6 at the most).
Why? Because I think shows like this end stronger and are overall better as a complete narrative when they don't drag on forever; and when their creators see the finish line on the horizon and plan accordingly.

Completely agreed. A proper story has a beginning, a middle, *and* an end, which we seem to have forgotten. If you love your story, you want it to get a proper ending instead of languishing in the middle forever. I don't feel like it needs to exceed the original.

Technically, it should end with Season 6 as that would make it just about about evened out with Breaking Bad's episode count, give or take a few.

I consider Breaking Bad a six-season show. Yes, I realize that Season 5 is considered "Part A" and "Part B" but those were two VERY different segments that warrant being their own seasons in terms of narrative structure.

Yes, I also hope the show is plotted with some kind of endgame in mind. Though seeing as how it's a prequel, at some point it has to catch up with Saul Goodman in the era of Breaking Bad, but I'm wondering if it will have the temerity to actually co-exist as Saul's story within the saga of Walter White? That would be interesting.

It can always jump to the Cinnabon store and stay in the present.

Hell no. Season 5 is way too soon to end the show. It should be 6 as an absolute minimum. But 7-9 would be ideal.

But BCS is filmed under some Kirk/Spock codex of time progression in which 1 season is actually equal to four episodes. "Drag on forever" as you put it is what occurs in each episode. Despite this, I enjoy the show. I just feel that they will need another two seasons to resolve anything (or to even finish starting certain things)

reply

Yay. I love this show so I am glad it has been greenlit for S5.

As regards to its end, well they can end it when they don't have anything interesting to say about Jimmy/Saul.
