Hell no.

This is really too bad. The original is one of the most frightening films I've ever laid eyes on. In my opinion it is up there with the Exorcist in regards to the traumatic tone and imagery. Everything about Lynn's direction was beyond worthy and I strongly feel that this should not be remade. Knowing this post will not make a bit of difference in the outcome of this remake, I still have to retaliate and protest against it. *beep*

From your comment and being that there is no plot on the title page, I assume that this is a planned remake of the Tim Robbins film? If so I am in complete agreement. The original Jacobs Ladder was one of the most original films so much so that I can hardly find the words even now to describe it. The chiropractor angle in the film was pure genius.

To date I've hated just about every remake that I've seen such as Red Dawn, and others I won't even bother with such as Point Break (remaking that was a pure travesty) and Total Recall being that I didn't much care for the original in the first place. Even Everest was pretty horrible and that was a star studded cast compared to the made for TV film Into Thin Air which was far superior in every way. Why can't they just leave well enough alone for crying out loud?!

Because Hollywood, those up and coming writers, producer, directors, film executives have run out of new ideas. Movies now are about making blockbusters and sequels, lots of CGI (which I hate). They keep patting themselves on the back by how much the studios made last year, but the reality is movie tickets have skyrocketed. Personally, I would prefer independent films. But, an industry where they say Judd Apatow is brilliant is not a place I want to be, calling him the next Spielberg, the Coen brothers, Coppola, Lucas or the imagination of David Lynch and/or Tim Burton, which I don't see at all. I don't see that at all from his lame, stupid comedies where he can give his wife the lead. Why do you think they're making old television shows into movies? Everyone is looking for a edge and coming up empty. The most profitable genre are G and PG movies, movies where family can see together. The percentage of movies released are R rated dramas and comedies.

100% with you.

Why can't film makers come up with original ideas these days instead of remaking everything under the sun?

It must be all the 'member berries they've been eating!

Let's see: We had the Nice Guys, Kubo and two strings, Moonlight, I can go all day. Where was y'all when those movies came out? Exactly. Hollywood does come out with original films, people just don't go see cuz y'all rather watch familiar properties, remakes, low budget mediocre horror/thriller films...that's y'all fault

One good thing about remakes is that a lot of people who haven't seen the original, watch it to compare it with the remake, just because of comments like yours (silver lining). Some of the younger generation have no idea who Tim Robbins is but they know the girl from Sleepy Hollow and the guy from Grey's Anatomy :). Remaking a film doesn't make the old one bad so who really cares.

It's been forever since I watched Jacob's Ladder and now I'm going to revisit the film.

The problem with that is is that the kids watch the remake (which is usually inferior) and it sours them to take the time to watch the original.

The original Jacob's Ladder is a must see for any serious horror fan. I'd say it's easily in the Top 10 Best Psychological Horror Movies, it may even make the top 5.
