Time to boycott this movie like female ghostbusters and other crappy remakes. Quit changing the race of the main charactor. Hollywood is having a blackout right now even though people showed they are tired of this and voted for trump! Black remakes bomb and people are tired of them!
I respect your right to boycott something however I hope you are also boycotting other things that actually represent a downfall to our society such as racism and injustices that oppressed groups suffer as well. Also remember it's "worse idea" not "worst idea" in the way you used it. Excuse me but I just think it's crazy how because some of the main characters of this remake are black that this happens to be a huge issue to you and many others, when (newsflash) nearly everything that blacks invented has been taken over or or taken from blacks. Music style, song remakes, hair, historical errors in certain films where the real inhabitants of a story would have been black but portrayed by white characters, it happens. So
For this remake to have a few casts that are black with a majority still being white, why have such an uproar? I guess seeing a little color really has some people in their feelings. I digress. The blatant bigotry on this entire board is disgusting. Thank you to those who are shutting it down reminding these ignorant racists about the fine work these talented black actors have contributed to Hollywood and film. Make that a very small cast of black actors. As someone already pointed out only a handful of the cast is black with majority still being white. I did not want to believe it, but it is true. Now that we have a president elect about to take office who has nastily displayed his lack of respect and appreciation for people that differ from his race and beliefs, more and more hateful people have no shame spitting out their feelings. I guess I should be glad they're revealing themselves.
Anyways enough negativity. I am looking forward to this movie as a fan of the original version. The cast lined up for this looks quite promising! I'm happy for them.
Also let me add, we built America. So a very few blacks being the face of a black film or remake every now and then should not be a big deal.
shareWhile I don't see the problem with race-swapping remakes/characters aside from the fact that it's nothing more than a major disservice to that race as they are not receiving their own original character, they are simply getting sloppy seconds in a cheap remake. That being said, you are extremely delusional in all of your claims about how blacks built America and have had everything about their culture stolen from them. There were many people who physically built America, but the actual people who laid the groundwork and mapped it out were white - I know this is intolerable for those who believe the white man is basically satan.
I also find it quite humorous that you believe that because of the specific racism you dislike, you think it's completely acceptable for IMDB to eliminate their message boards. And how on earth does IMDB taking the first step in eliminating communication and conversation on their website signal that they are "reminding these ignorant racists about the fine work these talented black actors have contributed to Hollywood and film."?
