This Is One of Those Films...

where an actor like Ryan Reynolds got a decent chunk of change for a short amount of work and there is no real liability to his career because no one expects the film to be memorable. Expect it to be available for home download in about 2 short months.

It already looks like it would be way more "memorable" to me than half the big budget garbage that comes out nowadays. Especially the repetitive CGI superhero spectacles that all blend into one indiscernible smudge on the cinematic landscape.

This looks positively refreshing by comparison.

Thank you! Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who is bored silly by the endless stream of loud, empty Marvel films that we must deal with every month or so.

You're not the only one !

So what's you're point here? Should Ryan Reynolds say no to a part just because you think the movie won't be memorable? The movie hasn't even come out yet but I tell you what, it sure as hell looks a lot better than Batman v Superman or any other CGI infested movie taken the screen. And why are you using Ryan Reynolds as the example. The movie isn't centered around Ryan Reynolds so if the movie fails, it's not failing because of him. Secondly, Reynolds shot this before Deadpool came out and considering he only for $2 million for Deadpool up front, I highly doubt he got much for this role in this movie.

I'd agree expect for the fact that the supporting cast is stacked with great actors

The iceman is also a great movie

I'm hoping this surprises

This is one...

of those posts where the poster loves to pass judgement before even seeing the film.

I just saw a screening and thought it was really well done. As rtodd110 said, it is a star-studded ensemble cast, and everyone pulls their weight, even Reynolds who's only really in it for the first 10 min.

It is more about the title character's 'transformation', played memorably (pun intended) by Costner.

So next time, maybe actually watch something before ripping it apart based off one actor.

Actor like Ryan Reynolds is currently having the highest grossing R rated film of all time (757m $). His career is fine and cemented, if not before this.

So, how much did this memorable film earn at the box office? Now I'm thinking it's going to be availble for download even sooner.

reply

Irrelevant. A good movie doesn't always have to make huge money at the box office. Besides, in today's world of downloads and Blu Ray, it will more than likely make up any lost money based on that alone.

Transformers movies make massive money. How good are those?

You really think people are going to be lining up to buy the Blu-ray? I'm betting that the $5 bin at Walmart is where this Blu-ray will be found.

You nailed it, DarthSil.

I loved this movie and thought it totally rocked.
