Flowers for Algernon
I was disappointed. This movie had some very slick production. But the story was beyond senseless, so many characters deliberately taking the hardest possible path to their goals just so the writers would have something to hang the actions scenes on.
Towards the end though I was about ready to forgive all that when they suggested Jerico would knowingly sacrifice being a whole person in order to save the wife and child. Suddenly the movie turned into an action-thriller version of Flowers for Algernon.
Alas, they cheaped out and went with the sappy ending where nobody had to make any actual sacrifice to achieve their goals - Jerico saves the day, gets to be a real person, gets a job, gets a kid and probably gets the girl too.
Lame...
