Just when

Just when I was about to call it quits on Costner a gem like this comes a long. Don't get me wrong, I've been a fan of Costner's since he did Silverado (my first memory of him), but I simply HATED Hatfield/McCoys so much I was about disgusted. A horrible miniseries.

This film surprised me as much as Taken (1-3) I thought, no way could Liam Neeson do an action film like that, but not only could he, he did it extremely well in all 3 films. Same enjoyment here with Criminal. I knew Costner could do some off the wall violent films (3000M To Graceland comes to mind another great film in it's own right) but here he plays the part very well.

I do wish the film had explained his voice. Mustn't hurt to talk like that for scenes on end? Maybe the film makers kept him from sleeping and then let him take an hour nap and woke him up each time lol?

Overall I really liked this and as much as someone might call me jaded on violence I laughed a few times at the violent scenes. Some of it was predictable, and I do agree it was a bit like Selfless in some regards.

It was odd however to not hate Gary Oldman. It seems like everything I ever see with him in it he is always a nasty bad guy type. I was surprised as well that Tommy Lee Jones is aging pretty well. I've not yet seen the Superman VS Batman film so this is my first experience with Gal Gadot, did pretty well I guess. Michael Pitt did alright for a minor roll, first thing I've seen him in since Boardwalk Empire. Finally, it was nice to see Amaury Nolasco again. I've not seen him since he played Sucre on Prison Break.

My only bit of confusion was when it listed the place as being Dover Air Force Base, Delaware and the rest of the film seemed to take place in London. I guess I missed the transition back to the UK. Finally, I loved the soundtrack, especially Madsoniks closing credits song. WOW. 9/10 from this guy.
