What did the villian actually want?

OK so the film is contrived, the ending is ridiculously contrived and the villain is a cliche computer mastermind right out of Skyfall.

Still...even if it has no re watch value, I still enjoyed watching it. It may have had an impossible premise but it wasn't preachy with a fake "deep" message or any of that stuff.

But I was curious, does anyone know what the villain actually wanted the Wormhole for? There was the film footage early on where the guy was calling for the overthrow of all world governments or some such drek but I found the complete lack of any stated goals beyond him in charge of a lot of power a bit hollow.

Did I miss anything?

He was an Anarchist, he just sought ultimate chaos and destruction.

reply

He wanted the destruction or collapse of world governments.

reply

No, he wanted to be a movie's villain.

NOW THAT'S AWESOME!

That's what we're missing these days...A guy whose motivation is as simple as just being a villain.

Now all he needs is a bright colored spandex one piece costume and a cool sounding name and he'd be perfect!

A contrived film? You mean they're not all improvised?
