This is why Hollywood doesn't do original movies anymore

They try to make a decent original flick, sure it has its cliches, but what doesn't these days? How can you avoid decades of precedents? Instead of making this original film with a great cast and barely making a profit, they can make another sh!tty reboot or stupid kids film (superhero movies) and make billions. Hmm, I wonder why they go that route. So stop complaining if you continue to hate on ALL the original stuff they make.

So, care to elaborate on your grievances ? The master-plan is not ground-breaking, execution is barely adequate and it has serious plot development issues. If this is decent for you, then I think you've already answered your question.

This film was original??? Really????? .

No sh't.

Aside from being just like Self/Less the story beats were cliche as hell. Corny. Cheesy. Lame.

80 year old Costner just an intimidating bad azz.? Pfff---No. He's a damn amazing actor but was totally miscast here.

For a popcorn flick it's worth a rent. But damn they had an all star cast...they really missed an opportunity with all the shoddy writing.

By definition, yes. It wasn't adapted from another source (book, TV, remake, etc). Which was the point of the OP's post.

Are you not entertained?!

reply

NO...original as in; original idea, original concept....doesn't have to be directly derived from another source.

In that vein, this movie was no more original than any other of the actioners that have been churned out over the past 30 years.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

There's a lot of original movies being made and they're still shit, same with shitty sequels. Hollywood just needs to stop being lazy with the storytelling whether it's original or not.
