Why did Denise laugh at her husband's funeral?

Hi!

At the funeral of Denise's hunsband (Henry), she questioned why didn't her husband mention more about her just before he died.

Olive's reply was “If you need proof that you were loved, then you are in for one big, fat disappointment.”

......and we see Denise laughing of joy.....

Why do you think Denise laughed?

Was it because she misunderstood what Olive meant?

I thought Olive meant she did not believe the dead man did not really love Denise.

What do you think ??

Probably for several reasons: 1) Olive is so abrupt and rude that a diplomatic person might laugh in surprise at something she says, and more specifically, Denise is so goodnatured that her instinct might be more to laugh at the extremely rude comment than to tell Olive to f&^% off (which is what I would have done), 2) Denise is still in shock and extreme emotional reactions, even laughing, are to be expected. I attended a funeral once where one of the family members kept laughing out loud while crying. Some people don't deal with stress or uncomfortable situations very well and will laugh when it seems inappropriate to others.
