The most powerful scene I have seen on Television for some time. It still resonates with me :)

Celebrity is like evil, turn your back and it disappears...

I wanted him to have a happy life with that Patty chick he saved. Heart of the entire show.

Ya, that character resonated with me the most throughout the whole film.
Days after seeing the film, this character kept running through my mind. I wondered wether he ended up killing himself sometime later since he was never seen again after saving the girl out of the bay.

It killed me when he was guarding his mom in the tub and he saw a non existent bird on her hand. As a mother, it would kill me if I passed on my horrible problems to my son.

And it killed me when the mother was standing in the boat in the yard shooing away an illusion with a rake and the terrified look on her young son's face. It also killed me when Olive's son yells out that he's a freak when they were kids. If you, as a parent have a bad reputation in your community for one reason or another, you are dooming your children socially. It's horrible.

Christopher called Kevin 'trash' when they were kids, which says more about his character than it does Kevin's. Olive scolded him and tried to get him to interact with Kevin but Christopher was too resentful that Olive was paying so much attention to Kevin and his mom. He even mentions to Olive that he thinks she treats Kevin better than him, her own son.

Christopher's problems most likely began at that time. He was also aware that Olive and Mr. O'Casey were involved and was angry that he had to drive to and from school with them, as well as with Kevin. Both he and Kevin were trapped in situations they couldn't control but unfortunately couldn't find any common ground to become friends.

I just wanted to let you know it doesn't have to be tragic. Without telling all the story my family is generations of this disease. Before I even knew I had it, I passed it on to both kids. We've had some scary days but we're here, doing our version of normal. We could be your neighbors and you might never know.

We think differently than you because our brains are built differently. This is nether a good nor a bad thing.
But we live and work in your world. We just try to blend in.
Sometimes it's a challenge.
Sometimes we're a challenge.
Sometimes you're a challenge.

If you're not appalled, you're not paying attention ....

Yes, I agree, your family could be my neighbour. If you were my neighbour I would probably know something was up, but I am an empathetic person and would probably be your helpful neighbour. And that was what I was addressing in my OP - I was horrified how in a small town like that your reputation could ruined over small town thinking regarding mental illness.

The scene where he sits across from penny and says "that's all it takes?" after she says she was picking flowers to make herself feel better. And then his reaction. Dagger to my heart. Best scene.
