Are we going to get a Game of Thrones ending?

I gave up on the show for a few seasons and I recently caught up to the current episodes (this time having enough sense to fast forward all the rapes).

It got me thinking, with the book series still not finished, and seeing on Wikipedia (the most trusted of sources) that season 8 is gonna be it, the writers are going to have to end it on their own. Still some book material available obviously, but The End end, it’s gonna be on them. And to cram it all in in one season… are we optimistic? Lol

The last season of GoT was… a disappointment, and sped things up quite a lot.

We have book 9 (which I’m still to audio hear), and then whatever is to happen in book 10, which probably won’t come out in time… in 10 episodes? Is it enough?

Thankfully Gabaldon is no slouch, and if they screw it up, we’ll get a proper ending at some point in the near future (unlike GoT lol).

I don’t see that happening. Gabaldon knows where she’s going with her story, and she knows exactly how it’s ending. What she’s not sure about is how long it will take her to get there. I am NOT a Game of Thrones fan, so I don’t quite know what kept the author from finishing the book series. But it sounds like he didn’t have a plan.

As far as the tv show goes, there are story lines that can be satisfactorily concluded next season. There are story lines in the books that cannot be, but they can likely be avoided.

I’ve been really impressed with the show. Many stories have been dropped, but seriously, how else do you tell the story? They’ve chosen wisely and done an amazing job of telling the story the anyone can follow (even if they haven’t read the books).

Probably
