Season 1 Ep.1 - who is the mysterious figure we see from the back?

Was guessing it might be Jamie, but now it seems he's not a traveler.

I always thought it was supposed to be Jamie. But yeah he’s not a traveler so it’s weird. Maybe they meant it to be him but after discarded that concept and are hoping the viewers forgot about him.

Or maybe it was just his “spirit” or something, or two timelines or the world of the dead and the living merged for a brief moment as it was Samhain, and it was destiny Jamie and Claire will get together so it was a premonition of sorts.

Funny thing, I’ve listened to the audiobook but I don’t remember anything about it. My mind probably wondered and was not paying attention.

That's a danger with audiobooks. Nowadays I only listen to nonfiction, where missing something quick is usually less significant.
