He just have to mess it up again, could have lied that he knew about the obituary after shes gone and all would have been well. Anyway hes not getting out of that blunder without admitting hes wrong instead hes gonna waste all his effort to have her by being defensive and angry about it wtf?

He didn't know about the obituary when he talked to her on the phone. He found out, took some time to think about it and finally decided to call her. That's when her roommate answered.

When they were back in time , and she found out about him knowing , he just had to say "becasue she had been dead for years , and it would break your heart to learn they died early , etc etc"
which he basically did , but didnt add "And I dindnt know time travel was one of the options!!"
Bree was angry because it seemed he hid vital information to which there was a simple solution - go time travelling.
