is the anti-slavery stuff in the books?

I thought Claire was acting so stupid and naive that it was difficult to watch.

You can't go back 200 years (something I might add she did willingly this time around) and expect everyone to share your modern Western sensibilities!

I totally agree. She's written like a strong willed and principled woman, but in truth she is a moron. It doesen't matter how strongly you feel about slavery, you are not going to fix things in a couple of days.

At least she's always consistent in her idiotic behaviour.

If time travel was possible, a woman like Claire would've died already at least a dozen times.

I love the sets, the music, the acting, the costumes and the pace of the show, but from what I'm seeing, I'm really annoyed with the source material.

The thing with Claire is that she isn't even a 1940's woman, she acts like a modern one. She would not have lasted in her own time (1940's) let alone 1700's Scotland. There is an episode in the first season where she walks around singing "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" this in a time where anything that was strange would be blamed on witchcraft and the person set on fire!
