Why was Batman so angry and hateful towards Superman?

I was just watching this movie and I couldn't figure out why Batman hates Superman so much? Why did Batman want Superman dead?

reply

SUPERMAN AND ZOD DESTROYED THE CITY IN THE BATTLE DURING "MAN OF STEEL"..INCLUDING THE WAYNE BUILDING.

reply

What city was destroyed during the battle? Did Superman and Zod destroy Gotham? Metropolis? Or did they destroy both cities? Guess I really should've watched Man of Steel first.

reply

METROPOLIS...BUT BRUCE WAYNE HAD A TOWER THERE...I THINK?...

reply

They destroy Metropolis. Batman v Superman shows this from Bruce's perspective so there really isn't a need to watch Man of Steel to get the whole picture here.

reply

Why are you yelling?

reply

I AM NOT..EVOLVE PAST THAT HANG-UP.

reply

Why so angry?

reply

MENOPAUSE.

reply

hehe he was so angry because he was super mad at him for saying that he has a smol peepee

reply

But Batman has the bigger dick. It's just that Superman's is harder. Obviously.

reply

hehe i know

reply

why Batman hates Superman so much?
well , purely so that this retarded concept of a movie could exist.

Writer1: "You what would be like real dope? If Superman fights Batman"
writer2: "yo that would be like sooooooo cool! , but how would that ever come up in a story, they are both superheroes who fight for good"
Writer1: "ah fuck it , we'll just do it , comic nerds will still watch it"

reply

Actually the idea came long before this movie. In fact this storyline sort of follows the Dark Knight Returns cartoon from 2012.

reply

This is a point. Even in the comics, Batman and Superman were seen to have differences.

They were ultimately friends, but there were several different origin stories of their relationship, which showed them being suspicious of each other on first meeting.

reply

Because the movie needed it.

reply

correct

reply

Nope.

reply

Don't be a moviegoing tool.

reply

Didn't you see the opening scene? Superman and Zod's battle destroyed a Wayne Enterprises building with people inside.

reply

I agree it is not logical enough

They tried a bit with Batman's nightmares of total superman-dictatorship

reply

Which isn't a good reason. Superman had to do whatever it takes as fast possible to take down Zod. Realistically, Batman would not assume that Superman let the destruction happen out of malice. He would consider it as a possibility, but he would also consider the possibility that Superman made a mistake and was in over his head fighting a guy on his level for the first time. He'd do the research and eventually he'd fine there would be no reason to fight him. Batman clinging on to RHAW HE EVIL CAUSE MAYBE made him look compulsive. It was a garbage plot device and it's what largely led to the film being such a mess.

Snyder should never have tried to course correct the Metropolis fight. We would have gotten a better film had he closed his ears to the over-reaction.

reply

Because he thought Superman's mom wasn't named Martha

reply

Post of the year!

reply

he hates illegal immigration

reply

Not that I think it's a good reason, but Bruce Wayne mentions it in this movie when he says something along the lines of "if there's even a one percent chance that Superman is bad, I have to take that as an absolute". What Bruce knows of Superman is that he has God like powers and destroyed almost the entire city of Metropolis. What he doesn't know is that Superman has good intentions.

reply

Nah, I think the real reason is listed above. Batman, being a person of white privilege, hates illegal immigration

reply

What he doesn't know is that Superman has good intentions.

That's the biggest reach in setting up the Batman Vs Superman premise.

Superman literally just saved the ENTIRE PLANET from being terraformed but Bruce is required to be suspicious of / against him!

I personally think Bruce was lying to himself with that critical line: "if there's even a one percent chance that Superman is bad, I have to take that as an absolute"

Bruce was justifying murder to himself. Alfred saw through it. His take on it explains what's really going on: Clark and the Kryptonians filled Bruce with a sense of helplessness that "turns good men cruel."

Bruce hated Clark for making him feel that helplessness
