Missing Section of the Story?

Anyone else get the feeling that maybe a big part of this film ended up on the cutting room floor? Specifically, I felt from early on in the film that it would be exposed that the 3 crazies were murdered (revenge) at the police station, by cops. That would explain why the sergeant is so suspicious of the rookie. It would also explain why the "ghosts" are so irked. And finally why the police gave a fake story about everyone dying at the original scene of the crime and not at the police station. The moving filing cabinets also seemed like they were meant for her to find something there, as well as other things on her exploration.

The movie wasn't bad, but stumbled into cliche near the end. There was potential here and I feel like the story that got made is not the one planned.

YES! Watched with my son, wasn't expecting much and it was like WOW!!!! But then it just ends... and so many questions, like what was in that paperwork, yada yada the stuff you said above! I want to know more of the backstory on this one! But it stands well as it is, that just would've probably given it another star from me had there been something the homeless man could show her or some ties to the original crime.

That's what I've been thinking too! Have you seen Gothika? I think I was influenced by Gothika, because I started looking for evidence that something is fishy about Loren's father and Price.

Price gives out the airs of a perv. It might be according to the theory that in the afterlife he is possessed by the cultists, or might be that he was a nasty cop.

I posted a theory just now that there is something fishy about all the policemen involved.

Add to that that when Loren's mom calls her in the beginning, her lines are vague and it might be interpreted as if she is about to tell Loren some secret that was kept from her, and she might be warning Loren not generally about joining the police, but specifically spending a night at the station (because she might find something).

The hobo rummaging through the police files - and the moving cabinets you mention - also hint that there is some information at the station that Loren has yet to discover.

Monica - the supposed victim of the cult - is hostile towards Loren. Why? Again, I am not buying on the theory that victims are all possessed by the cultists.
Although, maybe the police was wrong and Monica was not a victim but in fact a member of the cult who tried to get away.
