Parallel Universe?

I don't get how this was supposed to be in a "parallel universe". Aren't all movies in some sort of parallel universe?

Was the point that we were SUPPOSED to get that each of the time frames was a different world? I didn't get that at all when watching.

I thought that this was supposed to be a loudly broadcasted twist that Ismael is apt to incorporate (who didn't see the Fight Club twist in Mr Robot after the pilot?).

I thought the entire movie was simply a dying mans deletional final thoughts. The two suns were the car's headlights. The static between timeframes was his delicate grasp on the dream breaking down. Her thesis written in gibberish was his not being able to read in a dream (we don't read in dreams). He not only saved his mothers life, he CURED EFFIN' CANCER!! Her changing relationship with "Jack" throughout the years didn't make sense because it wasn't based on anything real. It was just his brain-damaged delusion.

I just did a quick read through this board.

No one else thought he was dead/dying? He said so right after he was hit, as he started dreaming.

What fun is a twist ending if the protagonist figures it out and tells the audience in the first scene? And furthermore reminds the viewers that it's exactly the same twist as in the Sixth Sense?

I'm going to say that can't be it, because if that was it, that would make the movie really awful, and I don't like watching awful movies.

I think you're exactly right. I always wanted to think he ended up with her. I mean I've thought about the him dying/dreaming the whole thing but I honestly didn't even consider the facts you stated.
