Terrible TERRIBLE writing!

Where does the love for this movie come from?

It's incredibly poorly written. The dialog is so amateurish and cringe-inducing. This doesn't make good characters obviously, as the two characters are beyond obnoxious and "douchey". MTV-bashing, pot-smoking, literature-referencing, hippy characters. What a *beep* pretentious movie. It gives indie films a bad name.

After skimming through this board I can see a bunch of numbnuts, like always, arguing about the ending and defining the movie's quality from that. What the *beep*?! Stop it. Is that all your brains can do? You see a non-happy ending and two suns and you just have to interpret it away because you want to feel oh-so clever.

Anyway, I gave Comet 5 stars (gotta support the smaller projects), but deserves less.

PS. I never recommend another film while bashing another, but... watch Stay (2005) instead.

Ignore this idiot. The film obviously went over their head.
Beautiful film for deep thinkers.
And the dialog was realistic not amateurish. They were young people.
They aren't going to speak like rocket scientists, are they?
It was also brilliantly shot and mesmerizing to watch. And the score was outstanding too. I don't know why you are calling the people who liked it "numbnuts" when clearly you're the one who didn't understand the film.

Agreed. To pull off a movie like this, the conversations and dialogue need to be top notch from start to finish. It needs to be witty, involving, charismatic, touching, etc. Because it's the only thing the movie has going for it really. It's an indie drama where almost every scene is the same 2 people talking but in new settings - so clearly the focus is entirely on the dialogue.

Unfortunately it didn't live up to the needs of the movie. They were all pretty mediocre and cliche, without anything memorable. I just saw it and I can't remember a single line. The acting was fine, and the chronological idea wasn't terrible, but the dialogue was just boring and went nowhere...

As much as I enjoyed Stay, it's a totally different kind of movie and as such, is not a fitting "replacement" for Comet.

The reason I recommended "Stay" was because it shares with "Comet" that abstract and artful packaging/presentation of the story - the difference being that Stay does a good job of it and it ends up being a really good film.

Ha. Oddly enough, the dialogue was part of the charm of this film.

Regardless, "TERRIBLE" writing? You're TERRIBLY overdramatic.

I loved Stay and I loved this as well. Let's see you write a better film and then come back to preach.

Think before you type. I think that the political leader of my country is incompetent, according to you I can criticize only if I can do a better job than him. That's not how reality works. Think.

The writing is great

That movie "stay" has worse reviews than comet

I completely agree. Rossum and Long's performances and the cinematography were the only redeeming features of this film. The script was just awful.
