you call that torture?
i would think the devil and the king of plagues would think of a much better way to torture someone than to look them in a roomy with symbols and a random old lady popping up to scream. how disappointing.

shareI know, right? Let's give her a fate worse than death by putting her in a small room for a period of less than 24 hours, and then up the pain-factor by making the room slightly, but insignificantly, smaller. Oh the horrors. How will Mary recover from this one?
shareI know. If they wanted to torture Mary, all you gotta do is play John dying over and over again and nothing for her to stop it. That would seem like more of a fitting torture for Mary then whatever the hell that was.
sharePersonally I was impressed with the magick. She wasn't meant to be harmed, the box was simply meant a form of imprisonment. Very effective.
shareThe real torture was her powers being taken away.
sharesorry but that wasnt torture in the least hun. infact the devil did far better at torturing everyone else who he believed betrayed mary. such as removing titubas eyes and biting off mercys finger.
shareHe gave Mary something that was worst than physical torture (to her at least), she gets tortured mentally. All Mary ever wanted was power because as woman in that time she had none. She had to abide by whatever laws or rules a man put over her. With her powers she got to make the rules and live how she wanted. Now her son/devil has reduced her back to being just a powerless woman who will have to depend on the men around her. For Mary that is her own personal Hell.
Tituba may be blind but she still has her powers. Mercy may be with a finger, but she still has her powers. Mary has her beauty but she is now powerless and at the mercy of those with power around her.
oh how awful! mary is no longer a witch [which the love of her life despised about about her] and still has all these men lusting after her and willing to do everything for her. how "tortuorous" indeed. lmao give me a break
shareMary has no one other than John willing to help her and he is off doing others things. The guy with the crush is still serving Satan and probably isn't going risk his warth. Satan baby will just use and abuse her and his minion wants to kill her. Any other man can't help her or they will just use her for sex.
Mary wants to be able to rely on herself not be under someone else's thumb. It doesn't matter that John hated her being a witch, her powers were a big part of who she was. They gave her a life she couldn't have when he was shipped off to war. So now she is dependant and trapped in Salem with no one is willing or able to help her. She is powerless just like she was in episode one. So yes that is torture, maybe not for you but for her character it is. Anyone who understands what her character is about will realize why being without her powers is the worst torture you can give her aside from killing John.
But hey this is all just my opinion, you don't have to see the same way. Maybe she will receive more punishment in the next episode that will satisfy you.
blah blah blah. girl please. mary has had no problem using her body by any means necessary. she practically gave up her soul to be a witch. your desperate attempt to excuse this lack of imaginative writing for marys torture knows no bounds. just because shes human doesn't mean shes completely helpless and i doubt mary is goin to just GIVE UP because shes human either. of course it matters that john hated her being a witch it was why she was a mess when he reappeared in the first place and why it took her so long to reveal to him the truth. i never said mary wouldnt be devasted at the loss of her powers. its just not real torture.
shareStop it already. We all heard where you stand, after all, you started this topic ... hopefully not only to impose your opinion on others.

Its hard to say. Its implied its a little more complicated than simply removing her powers. They act like power over the elements is bonded to them like an extra limb than existential power.
shareI wouldn't rule out Seb as not willing to help her just yet, alot can happen between now and the end of the season.
