Highly enjoyable. Hits all the marks plus more.

When I read the descriptor and saw the low rating I was hesitant.

But I am glad I ignored both of them and gave it a watch.

Everything that ever has been thought about in the whole UFO encounter type genre is shown here and more.
You will see what I mean when you watch it.
Just ignore the low rating and and the descriptor.
It was a fun ride that keeps giving.

I'm glad you enjoyed it but to me it just seemed like a rip off of about 5 other films. There was not one original thing about it. The actors were awful and the script was laughable. You need to raise the bar a little, buddy lol.

There was not one original thing about it.

In fairness, the OP addresses that in their post.

No you are the one that is confused!

I can't fathom how anyone could have a brain that deducts things like yours...an adult with a normal functioning brain that is!

I've watched a lot of pure *beep* movies. And this is not one of them.

The fact that it's aliens, not huge budget, has no A list actors you have to tip toe around in your judgment.. and doesn't have stellar writing makes you guys go way harder on this than it deserves.

The alien scenes were pretty awesome. The end scene was really awesome.

This isn't an art film. It's a cabin in the woods film. And like 2012's cabin in the woods, it takes it way further and skips a lot of the teenage reckless fun time tropes. Or at least breezes over them in seconds.

You guys are just wrong.

I've watched a lot of pure *beep* movies too. And sadly, this was one of them.
Different strokes.

I also enjoyed it. I'm a huge horror fanatic, so I've definitely seen a ton of movies. It wasn't original at all, but I found it to be extremely entertaining. We all have our own opinions.

It's a steaming pile of manure...

reply

On point. It's so bad It's almost funny, almost... but not really.

reply

I enjoyed only the last 20 minutes of the movie. The rest was hardly watchable because of poor done parody.

reply

I watched it for the Vicious Brother's sake. They made Grave Encounters, and that was awesome and scary, and not cheap scary. This is the same. Good story, decent acting and the stupid teenagers-typecast is switched out with stupid people in their end of 20's. It's a fun ride

reply

Eh, I didn't like it except for the music. Some songs were good, especially at the end.

I loved it. To me it was like an alien version of Scream. It KNOWS it uses clishy things and it doesn't care. It knows some of the stuff is a bit too overused and it doesn't care. It knows the plot isn't amazing and it doesn't care. It's like, to me, a mix between a horror and a comedy and a sci-fi movie. And I get the distinct feeling that the directors and writers intended just this. It's not supposed to scare you out of your wits with every single scene. It's not supposed to be 100% original. It's not supposed to blow you away and have you leave the theater thinking "wow, so inspired to change everything in my life now" or "man, I will never sleep again". It knows these things and does not care. That was the charm to me.

[Setting... LA apartment living room decorated with mid-century modern furniture from thrift stores. Empty beer bottles and pizza boxes litter the tables and floor. Indie sci-fi movie posters decorate the walls. A man with unkempt hair and dark circles under his eyes squints into the screen of his cell phone, then mashes the send button with his thumb]

"Ma? Yeah, hi ma.... Uh huh.... Uh huh.... That's nice hey listen, ma. Write these phrases down.... [zoom in on one particular poster while he mumbles in to the phone, then move to the laptop screen on the ikea dining table... Zoom in on the page filled with one-star ratings]

... "no, ma, not 'deceptors,' 'descriptors.' Yeah. Now go make an imdb account....."

Movies are IQ tests. The IMDB boards are each person's opportunity to broadcast their score.
