Am I the only one that thinks this movie is entirely self aware?
It struck me that the directors follow alien film tropes to a tee in an often comical, often effective fashion. Not only plot wise, but in cinematic language. The exaggerated push ins and pans, the precise placement of each one liner and jump scare, etc. They cycle through each cleche with what i believe to be an all too knowing pace, splicing in effective subversions such as the almost thermal vision scene in the cabin. 2000's scifi and horror has been uncool for just long enough that this movie even seems like a throwback. Most wont agree but i think this was funny, a little creepy and a lot more successful in its goals than some think.
