Wonderful
Great cast, wonderful story, you'll love this.
shareAbsolutely superb! It had me hooked from start to finish. One of the most immersing stories there has been on British TV for a while, and helped along by fantastic performances. Even the younger members of the cast deserve as much credit as the likes of Coleman and Redgrave.
It also warranted a much better slot than 30th December, considering all the dross that filled the terrestrial channels over the Christmas period.
From start to fini, everyone in this film, I cared/ intrigued by
every character down to the minors. All were fabulous.
Redgrave brings out the best.
I could be wrong, but hubby and I came away wondering if the doctor
was the baby boy.
He doesn't have to be for it to work, but he seemed to be holding
something back.
The baby boy was the bloke who was sleeping rough in the big old house. That was made very clear.
You`re my wife now.
Thought it was disappointing since it was advertised as a ghost story/chiller and there was very little of that.
shareNot without faults... Slow to get going and the pacing was a bit ponderous, which seems to be fashionable at the moment... Of course, twists are always contrived to some extent. But, this one did seem very contrived... However, once it got going, this was very good and created a genuinely claustophobic and tense atmosphere... Amazing to see brilliant actresses like Vanessa Redgrave and Olivia Colman working together and, actually, it's a bit of a novelty to see such a big drama that's so focused on women characters.
shareA good thriller but not really a ghost story.
Its that man again!!
Not bad, but I was really impressed by Vanessa Redgrave. Brilliant actress. She made Olivia Coleman look average!
shareNo she didn't. Redgrave is a great actor certainly, but very mannered and theatrical . Colman is more contemporary and subtly nuanced.
Both were excellent and very compatible I thought.
The book gives a much better picture of Aurelius.... A much bigger role than in the movie. Having read the book, I was not creeped out, but suspect some of the scenes might have been a little haunting.
