I recently read that the creators were originally going to have Nick go savage for real, but see Judy as something to defend rather than attack. Anyone know how accurate that is? Just wondering, and IMO that would've been kinda neat in a way.

shareAn interesting but flawed idea. It would only make sense if the nighthowler serum actually made one savage - that is, reverted one to a pre-evolved state. But Judy had realized that's a misconception after finding that rabbits also become bloodthirsty, which is not a natural prey behavior.
Also, that's not really the original original plot. What was planned before that was very different:
