This was a great concept, but they completely threw it away on a generic "You can do whatever you want no matter who you are" message, cardboard characters, and focusing on the films message over the actual content.
Thank you! I agree so much. I was worried that the I was the only one thinking this way cause I brought up a similar debate in another thread and got kind of ripped apart. Even when I'd admit I enjoyed the film the people kept acting like I was attacking them.
Hahahahaha! Yeah all I was doing was explaining why I thought kubo was a better animated film all the while giving props to zootopia. And then seemingly just because I said I thought zootopia wasn't the best movie of the year, they started ripping apart me and kubo. Just goes to show how far being respectful gets you.
LOL Never fails! Every single year a animated film does well and is loved by critics, the awards circuit, and movie goers it's the same thing!
This movie sucks ....was a masterpiece and deserved ....award! This film was over rated! It isn't fair no one cared about ....!
Same thing happened with Frozen and the same thing happened with Inside Out!
I say who cares! Most people loved this film and they still do! It's been on several Top 10 lists from journalists including at least one at the top spot. It has won every single major award so far, it was on AFI's Best Films Of 2016 list (a rare honor for animated films) and it was the #1 rated animated film and the #1 rated film OVERALL on Rotten Tomatoes for 2016.
I feel like a broken record here, I enjoyed zootopia! All right. To all the Disney fanboys who think that just because I think it isn't the best animated film of the year equates to me calling this movie dogs hit need to get over themselves. I think it was a beautifully animated film with fun characters and an important message. Do I think it deserved to win, no I don't. And in terms of rotten tomatoes score, it was the best reviewed film by 1 percent (also if we're bringing reviewers in to this, on metacritic kubo recieved an 84 indicating universal acclaim while zootopia recieved a 78 indicating generally favorable reviews). I may be ranting, but it's cause I'm annoyed at people only pulling negatives from what I say and then sarcastically being like "well that's your opinion". I dealt with this on another thread and I'm dealing with it here. Where even though I say that I'm happy your favorite film won, me being upset that my favorite film didn't just gets me hate for some reason.
I want to apologize if I'm sounding hostile. I don't want to sound that way and I'm not sure why this thing is bugging me so much but it is, so for any apparent hostility I once again say I am sorry.
To all the Disney fanboys who think that just because I think it isn't the best animated film of the year equates to me calling this movie dogs hit need to get over themselves.
Was more than completely warranted.
Just look at the fact that these people are deeply insecure in their opinion even though it would appear to be the popular one.
Just let that sink in.
I would encourage Zootopia fanboys to do the same.
I must agree with you there. It was definitely a disappointment. If I'd actually been hyped-up for it I would likely be very angry Disney let that thing hit theaters. Lucas Film and FOX have had more than thirty-five years to come up with a prequel worthy of standing beside the original trilogy and THAT is what they made and sold to the public!?! I'll take Zootopia over that mess any day of the week.

Yep! Before Zootopia was released, hell even way back when the teaser was dropped practically everyone was laughing at it, saying it would flop, etc. Yet here we are with Zootopia a billion dollar film, number one film of the year on Rotten Tomatoes and the Oscar favorite!
