What would you like to see in Zootopia 2?

As some people already know there is a sequel of Zootopia said to be in development now and I was just wondering what are some things you would like to see in the sequel and do you think Judy and Nick will be confirmed to be in a relationship or as just friends? According to Byron Howard and Rich Moore their relationship status will be confirmed in Zootopia 2.

“At the very end of the movie, it does feel like there could be a little bit more, but never did I think that it would turn into the shipping that it’s become. It’s so weird because half the fans are like, ‘We love WildeHopps, and they need to get together and get married,’ and then there’s this other side that’s like, ‘No! They should not get together. Do male and female characters always have to get together at the end of every movie? Can’t they just stay best friends?'”

As for Nick's and Judy's relationship, I say just let them be a couple instead of just being friends.

A gag where it turns out Finnick is dating Nick's Mom...and, as it turns out, she's voiced by Katey Sagal.

That would be a nice reference to Futurama considering, in that show, her pet was Nibbler, another small, cute animal with a deep, deep voice.

I'd like to see Nicks parents in the sequel. Maybe his current home. Because this movie gave me the idea that Nick, dispite him earning 200 bucks a day, is homeles..We never got to see his home and Judy found him under (well next to) a bridge..

I would love to see Nick and Judy become a couple. It would probably be a difficult relationship because a predator/prey relationship is not common. And some other animals might not approve..
I think it would (should!) be different from the generic Disney love stories.

Actually, the creators of Zootopia did say that interspecies couples do exist in Zootopia.

reply

Which is fairly ridiculous, considering they literally can't mate or produce offspring. But hey, I guess neither can Kermit and Miss Piggy. To be fair, Miss Piggy is a manipulative, abusive *beep* and Kermit really needs to call Catalyst.

reply

um...so unless they can produce offspring, they shouldn't be a couple? there are many couples out there who can't have children and they are still able to have families through adoption and such. not all families are blood related *eyeroll*

Well, I would just be happy to see a sequel to the movie as long as it is good 'cause it is one of my favourite movies of the year and I am still waiting for a sequel to Brave but it looks to be on hold. 😞

I think Disney chould make a Zootopia series like they did with the Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Timon and Pumba 'cause there are so many things they could do inside of the world of Zootopia.

I hope the next movie is more interesting than just being about whether two characters are in love or not and whether society accepts them, which has the potential to come off as incredibly preachy (which this movie has already been accused of).

It would also be incredibly boring and cliche at this point if they did since the fandom has run the idea into the ground and it would no longer be a fun buddy cop movie about solving a big crime, which is what it should be first and foremost.

That being said, if they do go the route of them becoming a couple, I wouldn't mind if they handled it somewhat like the Rescuers Down Under did with Miss Bianca and Bernard, but as long as it isn't the main focus.

I'm not sure (which is probably why I'm not a screenwriter), but I agree with one critic who said the world was so lush and full of interesting elements that it felt underexplored. So I'd be happy just to see this inventive world get more fully explored.

I'd like to see them stop milking every idea until it turns into a terrible movie. As in, don't make Zootopia 2.

Plenty of thought has brought me to the same conclusion. As many flaws as it has the movie is nearly as perfect as I would want it to be. If a sequel ends up ruining what I like so much about the original then I'd prefer it not have any sequels at all. I liked the first two 'Ice Age' movies and then they stuffed "relationship" BS in there and ruined the series for me.

I think it'd be pretty cool if the relationship was just simply heavily suggested, like it's there but it's not quite there kind of stuff, just some hinting. I also hope that the plot is just a wee bit more intelligent. I felt like the villain was a bit generic and predictable in some cases (might be different for others). If those things are up and running in the next film then I'll be more than happy with that.

Oooooo do it kinda like Scully and Mulder.

I would like to see the sequel explore other terrains. It didn't address aquatic life at all - not even aquatic mammals. Do they have a separate underwater city? Does Zootopia trade with them? I guess fish are okay food for the predators of Zootopia to eat.

Also, what about domesticated animals like dogs and cats? Do they not exist in the world of Zootopia because there are no humans?

reply

Earlier storyboards were about Nick's life but test audiences liked Judy so her story was developed instead.

Disney heroines on the whole tend to be the love interests to the prince/hero with few exceptions (eg:Brave).

I'd like to see Judy inspiring other prey mammals especially female ones to 'try everything' and not let patronizing/demeaning attitudes deter them from traditionally male dominated bastions of work.
