Do You Think Kubo Will Beat Zootopia for the Oscar?
Thoughts?

Given the numerous awards Zootopia has earned so far, including on the AFI's top 10 list of the year, I would wager Zootopia will win.
Furthermore, I think that voting Zootopia for the Best Animated Feature would be an opportunity for the Academy to do a safe small symbolic dig at Trump. After all, Trump won in part by sowing fear and hate for his political advantage, and honoring a film that serves as a fable about the consequences of such prejudice would be fitting.
The fact that the film is a spectacular critical and box office success as well means that no one could seriously question its win.
Even before Trump's rise, there was a lot of fear mongering regarding Muslims and "otherness" among sectors of the western world. The propaganda has been out there for a while. My thought is that Zootopia was in response to that human inclination to point the finger at others, to sow fear, and to distract from the true problems and was not directly about Trump, even though Trump falls in line with that sort of thinking.
shareI've over looked this reply until now but I wanted to say, this is by far the most intelligent reply I've read that actually provided reasoning rather than "I like X movie so it'll win". Kudos!
shareI haven't seen Kubo and the Two Strings and I have no though o this, but I think Zootopia would still win, as most of the best animated feature film winners have gone to either a Disney-PIXAR film, or a Disney animated movie the last 4 years 2 of them have gone to a Disney solo animated movie, and I believe Zootopia will become the 3rd Disney animated movie to win.
shareYou should take some time and watch Kubo and the Two Strings. It's excellent animation. In my opinion it's the only other movie that is any real competition to Zootopia getting the Oscar for best animated picture, though opinions will differ.
